Steven D Mazzi, D.V.M. - Veterinarian
Dr. Mazzi received his B.S. from California State University at Pomona, his D.V.M. at the University of California at Davis, and then went on to do an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He has always had a great interest in animals initially for cats, but now he is equally fond of dogs. He lives in La Habra with his wife, Brenda, and their 3 children. His outside interests include spending time with his family, sports, exercising and reading.
Brenda Kauffman, V.M.D. - Veterinarian
Dr. Kauffman obtained her B.S. in biology at Houghton College in upstate NY, then went on to earn her doctorate, V.M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kauffman spent 1 year in Milwaukee completing an internship in Emergency and Critical care. She then worked at an emergency and referral clinic for 4 years prior to working at CLAH. She has been working here since 1999 and has enjoyed developing long term relationships with her clients and there pets. She developed her interest in animals through her father who was a "gentleman farmer" and from her childhood pets. Outside of County Line she enjoys her time with her family. She lives in La Habra with her husband, Steven and their 3 children. They also have 3 dogs, 1 cat and a roost of chickens.
Lan Xiao, D.V.M. - Veterinarian
Dr. Lan grew up in southern California and obtained her B.S. in Biology from UCLA. She later graduated with her DVM from U.C. Davis in 2012. She joined our team here at CLAH in 2013. Previously she worked in a local small animal practice where she gained valuable experience in internal medicine, preventative care and surgery. She is looking forward to continuing to work at CLAH and working with our clients and their pets. Dr. Lan has always loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian as soon as she discovered the profession as a young child. When not at work, Dr. Lan enjoys spending time with friends, reading, attending concerts, and rock climbing. She has 2 feline friends that live with her whom she adores.
Dawn Dempsey-Llamas - Veterinarian
Dr. Dawn Dempsey-Llamas received her doctorate in June of 2006 from Ross University. As an undergraduate. She earned her Bachelor of Science with a pre-vet major from Cal Poly Pomona. She completed her clinical year of vet school at Purdue University.
Elaine, RVT - Technician
Elaine has worked at County Line since September of 2002. Prior to joining us she worked at another small animal hospital in Whittier for 2 years. Elaine attended and graduated from the Professional Veterinary Assistant School in 2005 and went on to get her license as a Registered Veterinary Technician. When called upon, Elaine also volunteers for an Animal Disaster Rescue. She is married, has 2 grown children, and 1 granddaughter. Her and her husband have 1 family pet, a blind kitty, "Stevie" Wonder. Elaine loves her job and takes a special interest in pregnant dogs.
Kim - Reception and Office Assistant
Kim started as a receptionist at CLAH in 1994. Prior to starting here she worked at various pet stores and hospitals. However, as her love for animals grew along with her interest in their health, she soon found our hospital and has been dedicated to her job here helping clients and their pets.
She currently lives in uptown Whittier with her newly adopted kitten "Jimmy superfly snooka". When she's not running the front office, she loves camping at Kern River, she is also a dedicated Nascar and Jeff Gordan fan.
Jill - Assistant
Jill has been a dedicated employee at CLAH since 1974. She has grown with the company and is our lead supervising technician. Her experience, knowledge, and organizational skills make her a valuable asset to the company. She has loved and cared for animals ever since she can remember. She lives in LaHabra with her husband, two children, and their family pets, Blanche, Cupcake and Tucker.
When she's not at work, Jill's hobbies include camping and gardening.
Elizabeth - Office Manager
Elizabeth joined the CLAH team in 2000, although she has worked in the veterinary field for the last 15 years. She started here as a receptionist, then took on a role as a technician. She now has taken on the role as our practice manager and strives to make ongoing improvements to the hospital.
Outside of County Line, Elizabeth enjoys spending all of her free time with her family. Elizabeth and her husband Sean, enjoy taking their 4 year old son on various outings including dirt bike riding, camping and Supercross events. She has two very much loved family pets, 13 year old pitbulls, Star and Chocolate Monster.
Ayumi - RVT
Ayumi came to the United States from Japan in 1992. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science. She started working here in 2000. After becoming a mother, she has reduced her hours to part time, to focus on raising her 2 children.
Ayumi currently doesn't have any pets. She recently had to put down her long time pet "Buddy", but she hopes to find a family pet in the near future to adopt.
Lizz - Assistant
Lizz started working here in 2006. She just graduated from Mt. SAC in 2010 where she received her associate degree in science. She is currently studying to take her state board exam to get her license as Registered Veterinary Technician. After getting her license, she plans on going back to school to further her studies in veterinary medicine.
Lizz lives in LaHabra with her mom and stepdad and their 2 dogs, Milo and Maggie. In her free time Lizz enjoys hiking, watching UFC fights, and going camping at the river with her boyfriend Ben.
Cyndi - Assistant
Cyndi has been working with us for since May of 2000. Her love for animals, as well as the interaction with clients, is what makes Cyndi really enjoy her job. She has a 14 year old cat named "Comet" and a 3 year old terror, whoops! I mean terrier, named "Toby". She enjoys attending and watching Nascar races and collects coca cola memorabilia.
Ricky - Assistant
Ricky is the newest member of the County Line team. As a former EMT, Ricky now turns his focus towards helping animals. He is currently in school, with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. Recently married, Ricky enjoys spending his free time with his new bride. They currently reside in LaHabra with their their 2 cats, Binx and Chepetto.
